    Betti Pot
Two points I’d like to mention at the onset of this Betti Pot Nasal Cleaning System:

1)I don’t like putting things up or in my nose, generally speaking.

2)This is NOT a Betti/Neti (or other nasal system) comparison – strictly a review for Betti Pot.

Ok. Did I mention that I don’t like putting things up my nose? I almost have a phobia about it, and to be honest I’ve only ever ONCE before Betti put anything up my nose and it was a natural spray I had to do for a television spot. The dislike of nasal intrusions is common for many people – I’ve found my circle of friends to be wide. Now that I’m a pro, I’d like to give you some peace: it’s not that bad – honestly.

I first used the Betti Pot (the first and only green nasal cleansing system, btw) after I made the 13 year-old in my family try it first. It seemed harmless enough - her brain didn’t freeze, nor did she choke, gag or cry out in pain. Good – I was all in. The Betti Pot is relatively small (and cute!), so it’s easy to use with one hand and for most children, and the instructions were simple: ¼ teaspoon sea salt mixed with lukewarm water, tilt head, insert spout and go for it. The Betti Pot’s purpose is to keep the sinus clean, clear and healthy. It can help to relieve headaches, puffiness around eyes, cleans virus, allergens, fungus or bacteria living in the sinus and generally helps you breathe better. It seems to be a win-win for natural health with regards to sinus activity. Is it?

The 13 year-old guinea pig is hooked. She’s suffered with blocked sinuses for years and the Betti Pot really got her moving. We couldn’t get it all cleared out in one session though, but she’s willing and wanting to do it daily. It made a difference. For me, I don’t suffer with blocked sinuses or allergies very often, but I did love the feeling of having a clean nasal passage. Although the initial feeling of the water and salt flowing through my nasal cavity was a bit strange & startling, I loved the outcome more than I hate putting stuff up my nose. After the post-Betti-blow, the feeling was fresh, free and clean.

For it’s ease of use, size, attractiveness and effectiveness, the Betti Pot gets two thumbs up. For its greenness (no plastics in product, non-toxic & recycled materials for container) and the made in the USA stamp it goes a step beyond. I only wish the instructions would teach you more how to breathe during use. Although easy enough for kids to use, it took quite some time to get the technique down so no one was snorting salt water or simply swallowing it from nose to throat.

BTW – for first time users, it can be great entertainment in the right company. Enjoy and breathe easy!

    Nasopure
I am happy to report that I came to Nasopure not as a nasal cleansing virgin, but as an amateur with more than two nasal washings under my belt (having used the traditional neti). My curiosity about Nasopure was piqued…what were the advantages and disadvantages of using a different type of system?

Being at the height of fall allergy season, my interest in sinus health has blossomed. I’m not one to be crippled by allergies, but with the change of pollens coupled with living in a highly toxic environment (NYC), I do get a fair share of congestion, swollen glands, ear aches and the accompanying sore throat. All of these conditions, it turns out, can be alleviated or greatly improved with nasal washing! I read all about it in the book, Clearing the Air One Nose at a Time, written by Nasopure’s inventor Dr. Hana Solomon. It was extremely educational, fun to read and answered all of my curious questions.

As you have probably seen or read about, nasal cleansing has been around for centuries. It’s safe and recommended (yes, even U.S. doctors are now recommending) for most every one. Dr. Hana’s Nasopure is a product that combines this ancient cleansing practice with a modern day, convenient approach. Many of the nasal systems have you twisting your neck, craning over the sink and doing all kinds of tricks. Nasopure is designed to allow you to stand straight, squirt and release. I appreciated this and after 3 or 4 attempts, I finally got it down pat. It did, I must say, take some effort to learn how to use Nasopure effectively, but once I learned, it was great. (The first time I had solution and drainage coming down my chin… not pleasant.) The instructions are to go slow, use a mild solution and increase gradually. I would agree.

The solution felt stronger and more thorough than just using sea salt in a neti pot, and the affect seemed more cleansing. My whole head felt refreshed after using Nasopure and after reading Solomon’s book, I am now know that it’s completely safe and healing. You should read her book if you’re not convinced. Even children are using it - which I love. I was one of those chronic ear infection, tube kids and I wish I had the nasal cleansing systems available instead of the antibiotics and numerous doctor visits!

Pros: Pre-mixed solution comes in convenient packs. No tilting of the head and neck. Sturdy plastic bottle that is reusable. This doc knows what she’s doing and I trust her. Cons: Until you get the hang of it, the mechanics seem odd.

All in all, Nasopure is an excellent alternative to the “other” nasal cleansing systems. Don’t be discouraged by the new approach, and by all means get that goop out of your nose! Rating: 9
Price: $20 for starter kit (contains 20 salt mixture packets, each makes an 8 oz bottle and each 8 oz bottle can last up to 1 week of daily use)

    Natural TMJ Relief

If you don’t have “TMJ”, you may not know what it is. If you do know what it is, the chances are you’ve been searching for relief for years, or even considering surgery. TMJ stands for the Temporomandibular joint. It is the jaw joint located right in front of your ears. Obviously we all have one, but we’ve come to know TMJ as an affliction, as the pain it causes can be debilitating. Tension headaches, popping & painful jaw, possible ear or neck troubles. So, when I came across this new physician formulated all-natural supplement, I had to check it out.

As a former TMJ sufferer (night-time teeth grinder) I began snooping on the Natural TMJ Relief website to see why this product may actually work. I discovered testimonials and claims that suggest this formula works for other conditions like arthritis and fibromyalgia as well. Perfect. I’ve got a great candidate.

A friend of mine has suffered with arthritis and joint mobility for 40 years, since childhood. He’s dang-near addicted to Aleve (which I’m constantly griping about) but says that it’s the only thing that’s relieved any pain so he could walk, sit or tie his shoes. I convinced him to give me three weeks with Natural TMJ Relief. His confusion subsided when I told him about the product – it was safe, natural and suited specifically for joint and muscle function. At the least, he’d probably feel a bit more relaxed. He complied.

After some research, I realized this doc had more than 2 cents worth of knowledge. The formula was a congruent combination of vitamins and minerals that send proper nutrients to the body and joints, herbs that relax the system (love the Wild Lettuce Leaf) and help reduce inflammation (Boswellia), but without side affects (short or long term). Then, there’s a substance that I wasn’t familiar with: Avocado/Soybean Unsaponifiable. Obviously, this ingredient has been used for years in Europe for osteoarthritis and as an anti-inflammatory. And, it’s been effective. Go ahead, google it.

The results? I’m happy to report that after one week of use, my friend had more ability to rotate his leg and lift it up. There was still a little pain, but this simple act was impossible before Natural TMJ Relief. After two weeks, he was walking with more ease, the pain had subsided but not disappeared. After three weeks, he came to me and said, “Look!” and showed me like a proud schoolboy of his ability to cross his legs, ankle over knee for the first time in 40 years. When I interviewed him later, he went on to say that the pain has nearly vanished, he feels much more fluid and feels so comfortable, almost normal. He has to stop and remember how difficult simple tasks like sitting and bending used to be. He’s thrilled. I asked him if he was going to stay on it, and of course like most people, his question was, “How much is it?” Here’s the good news. If you buy 3 bottles, they are discounted to $29.99. Not much more than a month supply of Aleve, with greater benefits, NO side affects and NO prescription. The doc took care of that part for ya’!

    InLife Alternative Smoking Devices

You might wonder why, on a Health and Wellness site, we are featuring a product like InLife Alternative Smoking Devices. Well, truth be told, there are a lot of health oriented people out there who are addicted to cigarettes or love someone who is addicted. When we saw this Alternative Smoking device by InLife, we had to investigate.

You should really go to the website to see this system for yourself. I’ll do my best to explain, but if you are “into” smoking, you’ll want to experience this for yourself.

The InLife smoking alternative is NOT a cigarette by standard means. It’s electronic. It does contain nicotine, but from a natural non-tobacco source. It looks like a cigarette, but longer, heavier and plastic. The innards of this device are too complicated for me to go into, but in essence, there are cartridges to insert into the device for your desired amount of nicotine. The cartridges come in High, Medium, Low or No nicotine levels. You inhale this alternative cig, and blow out as well. But, there’s no smoke. It’s a vapor mist from the atomizer inside your non-smoke-y treat. It sounds unusual, I know, but let me tell you the advantages and the purpose.

Your InLife gets delivered in a nice box that contains 2 boxes of cartridges (the variety pack), a charger, a booklet of info. and of course your smoking device. This whole thing costs just a few bucks more than a carton of cigarettes, so you’ll probably save money in the long-run. Mind you, this is not particularly designed to be a “quit smoking” device, but I can see how it would be good for that. For smokers, you can puff away on this thing at the movies, at restaurants or basically anywhere, without getting kicked out. There is no smoke! So, it’s safer for the environment and your loved ones. If you are trying to wean yourself from smoking, this allows various stages of nicotine into your body, while still giving you the oral pleasure of having something in your mouth and occupying your hands. Like I said, most of the cartridges DO have nicotine, but there are no known harmful substances in this product that cause cancer or other maladies. There’s also no risk of lung cancer and free of tar, pesticides and chemicals found in traditional cigarettes.

As an ex-smoker, I tried the No nicotine cartridge and enjoyed the feeling of smoking it like a little girl playing with candy cigarettes. The taste is similar to a cigarette, with a sweet taste that was, at times, a bit much. Each cartridge lasts about the same amount of time that a pack of cigs will burn, and the charger on the battery goes for about 8 hours or so, depending on how much you use it. I’ve already gotten a smoker-friend of mine hooked – she’s replaced at least half of her regular cigarettes with the InLife and feels satisfied!

It truly is a “must-see/must-use” product. This is a great gift for those you love and care about to encourage better health as they try to reduce or eliminate their smoking habit!
